Proposed Amendments to Chapter Bylaws

Posted: Jan 18, 2018

This past August, ASSE members made the historic decision to change the organization’s name to the American Society of Safety Professionals.

ASSE members voted to amend Society bylaws to reflect the new name. As a separately incorporated entity, our chapter needs to hold a separate chapter member vote to change the name in our bylaws, as well.

To learn more about these proposed changes:

We will hold a member vote on these proposed changes at an upcoming meeting of the chapter.

Berwick Electric Shares Safety with Students

Posted: Aug 29, 2016

On April 6, 2016, Berwick Electric Company hosted a group of Special Eduation students and their chaperons from Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The purpose of the field trip was to expose these eager students to some of the technical aspects of Electrical Contracting along with the safety aspects and procedures of protecting electricians in their daily activities in working with electricity and electrical installations.  Billy Arnold presented some hands-on experience in building an electrical panel, demonstrating electrical work using a bucket truck to work on outside lighting as well as explaining some basic overviews of the challenges that electricians experience in their everyday work in the electrical trade.  Billy is a licensed electrician and is also one of Berwick Electric’s Project Managers in the Service Department.

Bill Tuten is the Safety Manager for Berwick Electric and over lunch, Bill gave the students a primer on electrical and construction safety and its value in the workplace.  Each student and chaperon received a high visibility safety vest as a token of Berwick Electric’s appreciation for their interest in participating in this wonderful and educational day.
