At the Southern Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers our mission is to offer an opportunity for safety professionals to meet other professionals and to share their experiences and knowledge with one another in an effort to promote safe and healthful working conditions in Southern Colorado and as the 2015 – 2016 Chapter President – I am committed to our mission. With nearly 100 members covering a broad area of 22 counties, our challenges are real in acquiring members, attendance, succession planning, and technical acumen applicable to our community which we serve. These are not uncommon challenges amongst volunteer organizations. After all, did you know that The American Society of Safety Engineers is a member driven organization and that the officers for the Southern Colorado Chapter are all volunteers? If not, you may be intrigued to know that while our chapter is small, compared to our northern neighbors, we still have fun and are able to host safety training topics, OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officers, industry experts, facility tours, and great networking opportunities that add value to the profession and help to sustain the noble calling to protect human life.
